DEENI<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Professor Yusuf Yahaya Deeni is a Professor of Molecular Biology and Biomedicine and a fellow of the Royal Society for Biology (FRSB). He is currently the Director of Research and Development at the Federal University Dutse (FUD) Nigeria.<\/p>\n<div class=\"x78zum5 x1iyjqo2 x1n2onr6 xdt5ytf\">\n<div class=\"xyamay9 x1pi30zi xsag5q8 x1swvt13\">\n<div class=\"xyinxu5 x4uap5 x1g2khh7 xkhd6sd\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Professor Deeni received BSc Biology from Savannah State University, Savannah, Georgia, USA (1981), MSc Biology (Microbiology) from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria (1989), and PhD in Molecular Biology (Molecular<br \/>\nPharmacology &amp; Toxicology) from University of Dundee, Dundee, Scotland, UK (1998). He has 33 years of Teaching and Research within the University System \u2013 a career starting in Bayero University Kano (BUK), Nigeria, then at University of Dundee and later Abertay University both in Dundee, Scotland, UK, before joining Federal University Dutse, Dutse, Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining BUK he had taught Biology, Mathematics and Physics at secondary level and has risen to become Senior Master and later an Inspector of Education (Biology &amp; Integrated Science with Kano State Ministry of Education, Kano, Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Y Y Deeni is a Molecular Pharmacologist\/Toxicologist, Biotechnologist and Translational Researcher, whose research interests\/activities include: drug discovery, drug metabolism, protein &amp; enzyme engineering, molecular carcinogenesis, molecular environmental toxicology, molecular epidemiology, gene regulation &amp; expression, bioinformatics and computational biology, medical and environmental microbiology and applied biotechnology.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, Professor Deeni led and managed several postgraduate programmes and supervised several postgraduate students (MSc &amp; MPhil, &gt;40; PhD, 14), Postdoctoral Researchers (2) and Academic Research Visitors (5). He has over 100 peer reviewed presentations and publications with a substantial number of in Q1\/Q2\/Q3 international journals, including The Lancet (impact factor 79.321) and Energy and Environmental Science Journal (impact factor 38.532).<\/p>\n<p>Professor Deeni is an Editorial Board Member and a Reviewer to many national and international peer review scientific journals and a member of several scientific associations\/bodies. He has obtained over 25 funding\/grants in support of Teaching and Research.<br \/>\nOver the years and through the different University System, Professor Deeni served\/serves in many key university committees like the University Court (Governing Council), Senate, Research Degrees Sub-Committee (RDC), Health and Safety Sub-Committee, etc. Further, he was Secretary and still member to the Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) of the National Covid-19 Research Coalition (NCRC), Nigeria. She has a diploma in Desktop Publishing (2010) and also ADAPTI by Digital Bridge Institute in 2013.<br \/>\nShe taught English Language in Girls Science Secondary School,Taura (1998-2001), and elevated to rank of a Principal in Girls Science Secondary School,Guri,Jigawa State(2003). She taught English Language in Nigerian Tulip(Turkish)International Colleges, Kano and Abuja(2003-2009). She taught English Language in Dutse Model International School, Dutse(2009-2012)<br \/>\nHer journey with Federal University Dutse began on 15th April,2012 as the Pioneer Female Hall Officer of all the Female Hostels(2012-2016),Public Relations Officer (Dec.2016- Jan.2017), Administrative Secretary, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development ( Jan.2017-Aug.2017),Faculty Officer, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (Aug.2017- July.2021)<br \/>\nShe is currently a Principal Assistant Registrar and Secretary to the School of Postgraduate Studies.
