Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science was established in 2012/2013 session with two (2) academic staff and thirty (30) students at the take-off. Presently, the Department has a total of three hundred and fourteen (314) students, twenty five (25) academic staff on permanent and pensionable status and 15 non-teaching and supporting staff.
As one of the norms in the University system, the Department operates a committee system for transparency and for giving equal opportunity to staff in rendering their services.
The Department operates in two blocks that house the HODs office, Academic staff offices, Laboratories and Lecture rooms. The Department has 4 well equipt Laboratories, Computers with learning software in a friendly and Conducive environment. Additionally, the Lecture rooms are equip with interactive smart boards, projectors and all the necessary teaching and learning materials.
The academic staff of the Department are mostly young graduates of some renowned Universities that cut across the globe. The Department is in the process of introducing new undergraduate programmes in software Engineering, Cyber Security and Information Technology (ICT). The potentials of the Department are numerous among in preparation to introduce postgraduate programmes in the nearest future
Personal Profile of H.O.D
Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Miyim is the Head of Computer Science Department and has over 15 year’s cognate working experience as Information Communication Technology (ICT) Professional, Project Management and the Academia. He is a COREN Reg. Engineer, MNSE, SMIEEE and Member International Computer Science and Engineering Society (ICSES). He was awarded Bureau for External Aids (BEA) Scholarship in 1985 and won the best Graduate Student Research in 2011.
He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Communication Engineering from Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications (ONAT-Ukraine) and Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics and Systems Engineering (National University of Malaysia-Malaysia). His research interest include: Wireless & Mobile Communications, Satellite Communication, Green Communication, Wireless Networking, Algorithms, Mobility Management and Radio.
