Abubakar Muhammad Miyim is a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE) and COREN Registered Engineer who received his Diploma in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic, Nigeria; M.Sc. in Radio Communications Engineering from Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications (ONAT), Ukraine and Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics and Systems Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia.

He worked in the telecommunication sector for 11 years where he rose from Senior Technical Officer to the rank of Manager Radio Transmission Engineer. He was a project manager for the CDMA expansion in the SW Zone of the Company, responsible for the Installation, Testing and Monitoring of Two (2) MSCs, Two (2) BSCs and over 180 BTS.

He is a member of International Advisory Board for Journal of Communications Technology, Electronics and Computer Science (JCTECS); International Journal for Systems, Control and Communications (IJSCC); Journal of Internet Technology (JIT) and member of International Computer Science and Engineering Society (ICSES). A reviewer of several Journals such as: Journal of Personal Wireless Communication, Arabian Journal of Science and Engineering (AJSE), Institute of Electrical Technologies (IET) Communications Journal and IEEE sponsored conferences. He has over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences both local and international with more than 50 citations.

His research interests are in Wireless & Mobile Communication Networks, Cooperative Communication, Green Communication, Satellite Communications, Cloud Computing, Algorithm, Mobility Management and Radio Resource Management for supporting Future Generation (4GB) Networks.

The Department of Computer Science was established in 2012/2013 session with two (2) academic staff and thirty (30) students at the take-off. Presently, the Department has a total of three hundred and fourteen (314) students, twenty five (25) academic staff on permanent and pensionable status and 15 non-teaching and supporting staff.

As one of the norms in the University system, the Department operates a committee system for transparency and for giving equal opportunity to staff in rendering their services.

The Department operates in two blocks that house the HODs office, Academic staff offices, Laboratories and Lecture rooms. The Department has 4 well equipt Laboratories, Computers with learning software in a friendly and Conducive environment. Additionally, the Lecture rooms are equip with interactive smart boards, projectors and all the necessary teaching and learning materials.

The academic staff of the Department are mostly young graduates of some renowned Universities that cut across the globe. The Department is in the process of introducing new undergraduate programmes in software Engineering, Cyber Security and Information Technology (ICT). The potentials of the Department are numerous among in preparation to introduce postgraduate programmes in the nearest future.

Ahmed Baita Garko, the first Professor of Computer Science from Kano State, Nigeria, has been involved in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science since 2005. Born at Garko town of Garko Local Government Area, Kano State on 2nd January, 1973; he attended Garko Central Primary School from 1980 to 1986, Government Senior Secondary Grammar School Garko from 1987 to 1989, and Science Secondary School Dawakin Tofa from 1990 to 1992 for his basic and secondary school education. He also attended Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto from 1993 to 1998, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1998. Later in 2009, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Bayero University, Kano. Also, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science in 2012, from the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola.

Professor Garko worked with the defunct Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (Nitel) from 2001 to 2005 in the Information Technology Department where he served as a System Analyst/Programmer, and he was the pioneer Mediation Manager of the Company who was in charge of meter readings and call detail records of all the Nitel switches nationwide. In April, 2005 he voluntarily resigned from the services of Nitel and joined the Academia as a Graduate Assistant with the Kano University of Science & Technology (KUST), Wudil. At KUST, he held many responsibilities, prominent among which are: Level coordinator, Departmental Examinations Officer, Deputy Faculty Examinations Officer, Faculty Examinations Officer, Head of Unit, Head of Computer Science Department, Pioneer Deputy Dean, Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Deputy Director, Management Information Systems (MIS), Member, University Governing Council representing the Congregation, Chairman, Taskforce Committee on Water, Electricity and Diesel Purchasing. He was also chairman and member to more than 20 university committees at the Kano University of Science & Technology, Wudil.

In March, 2013, Professor Garko joined the services of the Federal University Dutse (FUD) as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. At FUD, he was appointed the pioneer Head of Computer Science Department. Notable among his achievements as the Head of Department are: Establishing the Department itself, boosting its staffing from two (2) to more than fourty (40) academic staff making it a department with the highest number of academic staff in the University; establishing and equipping of three computer laboratories, three classrooms, securing of many offices for staff, procurement of the hardware laboratory equipment, and securing from the University additional block (extension) for the Department which houses HOD’s office, Conference room, three additional classes for postgraduate students, two professorial offices, and five additional offices for staff, all within his 2-year tenure as Head of Department.

Professor Garko was the pioneer Editor-in-chief of the Dutse Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences (DUJOPAS), a publication of the Faculty of Science; he steered the activities of the Journal from its inception in 2015 to December, 2017. Under his leadership, the Journal has gain wider recognition and acceptance from many parts of the country. In its December, 2017 edition, the Journal received more than 60 articles from different universities and higher institutions across the country, and more than 50 articles were accepted and published.

His other responsibilities at the Federal University Dutse include: Pioneer Director, University Computer Centre; after merging the Computer Centre with the MIS, he was in April, 2016 appointed as the pioneer Director, Information and Communication Techonology of the University. His main goals in his new appointment are: To develop and manage the University Portal In-house, To design, develop, and manage the University website In-house, and To improve/build the capacity of the ICT staff in the University.

Furthermore, he supervised more than 100 undergraduate projects, more than 20 M.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology students’ dissertations. He examined more than 30 M.Sc. Computer Science dissertations at Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, Bayero University, Kano, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Kebbi State University of Science & Technology, Aliero, and Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina. Professor Garko is a visiting Professor to Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, and Sule Lamido University, Kafin-Hausa. He is also an external examiner to many universities and polytechnics in Nigeria. He has published more than 50 academic articles in reputable national and international journals, proceedings, books and book chapters. He is also, a member of three academic associations: Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), and Intertional Association of Engineers and Computer Scientists (IAENG).

Professor Ahmed Baita Garko is happily married with five children (4 Boys and 1 Girl).

NAME: TAJUDEEN SANI, (PhD)

Dr. Sani Tajudeen is an ICT Professional with a several years in teaching and research experience at a university level. Hold PhD in Information Technology, Masters in IT and a BSc in Computer Science. He also holds a ND in Computing from Prestige Computer Academy affiliate of University of Lagos, Nigeria.

He is a Certified ACS, CISCO & ELSIVEIR Skills Researcher. He received numerous Academic Scholarship Awards. He’s an experienced Network Security, System Technology Analyst, Information Technology and Project Management. Currently a Computer Science lecturer at Federal University Dutse, Nigeria.

His Responsibilities Include, teaching student at both undergraduate and post-graduate level since 2013, with smear academic teaching approaches, scientific research, publish academic research, formulate lesson content, manage resource for educational purpose, work with virtual learning environment, assessment processes, teach and supervise educational projects and thesis, help student in their dissertation, develop course outline, administer exams, serve in academic committee, volunteering and community Services.

His Research focus; - Internet Technology and Systems, and wireless sensor network and Network Security. As a young researcher he believe in innovation and that the way you get innovation is you fund research and you learn the basics facts.

NAME: ZAHRADDEEN SUFYANU, (PhD)

Dr. Engr. Zahraddeen Sufyanu obtained a primary school certificate from Kawon Maigari Special Primary School and a senior secondary school certificate from Government Technical College Kano in 1997 and 2003 respectively. He holds a good degree in Electrical Engineering obtained from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil in 2010, and Ph.D. in Computer Science acquired from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia in 2016. He was an Electrical Engineer in Dangote Cement PLC (Obajana Plant), Kogi State Nigeria from 2011-2013.

His area of expertise includes Computer vision, Pattern Recognition, drives maintenance and reprograming of motor starters using programmable logic controller (PLC). He won a Best Paper Award during the 1st ICRIL-International Conference on Innovation in Science and Technology (ICIST), organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, on 20th April, 2015, and won a Best conference poster presenter and Graduation on Time Award (GOT) in UniSZA.

He is a COREN registered engineer, and currently a Member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG) and Associate Member of Universal Association of Computer and Electronics Engineers (UACEE). At present, serving as Article Reviewer in: The International Journal of an Emerging Trans-discipline Information Science Institute (ISI) Website USA, Advances in Science, Technology and Engineering Systems Journal (ASTESJ), Hudson Valley, New York, and American Journal of Applied Sciences (AJAS).

Besides, he has over 30 publications, and more than 20 citations, and has interest in teaching, modification of existing designs, Programming, and Poems writings.

Mr. Ahamed Sani Kazaure, is a Pioneer Staff in the Computer Science Department, Federal University Dutse and an IT Professional with several years in teaching and research at university level. Holds Master of Science in Business Information Technology, (M.Sc. IT) from University of Wales UK, a Bachelor of Science (Hon) in Computing from University of Portsmouth, UK. Mr. Kazaure also holds International Diploma in Computing, International Advanced Diploma in Computing from Informatics Institute, Singapore. He also holds National Diploma in Agricultural Engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic and Certificate in Building and Engineering Technology from Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic Kazaure. An experienced System Analyst, software developer and project team leader.

NAME: UMAR SANI DABAI

Umar Sani Dabai, is currently a Lecturer in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Sciences, Faculty of Science, Federal University Dutse (FUD), Nigeria. He has been involved in pedagogic activities including teaching Computer Science courses to undergraduate students since 2013. In October 2017, he got promoted to the position of Lecturer II.

Prior to joining FUD, he attended Bayero University Kano, where he obtained a Bachelors of Engineering degree in Computer in 2011 and subsequently obtained a Master’s Degree in Information Systems from The University of Sheffield, UK, in 2015.

Before returning to academia where he is currently carving a niche for himself, he worked as a Network Administrator with TXCom International Ltd, a leading Chinese IT firm based in Abuja, in 2011. In September 2012, he joined Intellisys Consulting Ltd, Abuja, Nigeria, where he worked as part of a cross functional team of engineers in his capacity as a Network Engineer and Webmaster.

NAME: ABDULHAMID ALIYU ARDO

Abdulhamid Ardo, started his teaching career in 2013 when he was employed by FUD as a Graduate Assistant. Born in Yola, Adamawa State in 1989; he attended the American University of Nigeria, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems in 2012. Later in 2016, he obtained a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD degree in Information Systems at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola.

He is a CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and has published 3 academic articles as well as attended some international conferences in Malaysia.

My research area is Human Computer Interaction (HCI). My research interest examines how interactive technologies can be designed to motive desirable behaviour change. I am particularly passionate about studying how Persuasive Technologies can be designed to promote teaching and learning. Engr. Ayuba John was born in Askira/Uba local government area in Borno state to the family of Mr./Mrs. John Anarwa Wabba in 25th May, 1985. He received his B.Eng. Engineering Degree in Computer Engineering from University of Maiduguri, Nigeria in 2010, and M.Eng. Computer Engineering Degree from University of Benin, Nigeria, in 2017, He has worked as a transmission Engineer in National Control Centre (NCC); Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in 2014. His zeal for research and impacting knowledge; has compelled him resigned for his job and picked another job as a graduate assistant in Federal University Dutse in 2014. He is currently a member of Nigerian society of Engineers and an assistant lecturer from Federal University Dutse, Nigeria. His research interests are in the areas of Embedded System Technologies, wireless sensor network and Network Security, with a view to developing a broad based human capital, thereby solving human/business challenges in Nigeria and beyond. The commendation he has received from several researchers and captains of industries across the world; has become obvious that his research works has produced a global impact on both the academic and industrial society.

NAME: ABBAS MUHAMMAD RABIU

Abbas Muhammad Rabiu, an Assistant Lecturer from the Department of Computer Science Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, Nigeria has been a lecturer with this Department since 2014. Born in Kanya-Babba, Babura Local Government, Jigawa State in 1986; he attended Kanya-Babba Special Primary school between 1993 and 1999. He then proceeded to Kanya-Babba Junior Secondary School in 1999 and completed in 2001. He then proceeded to Federal Science and Technical College Zuru, Kebbi State in 2001 where he completed his secondary school education in 2004. He joined one-year remedial science program of Bayero University, Kano for one year and later in 2006 he was absorbed into the Department of Electrical Engineering of the same University and came up with the degree in Computer Engineering in 2012. He did his National Youth Service (NYSC) in Government College Azare, Bauchi State between 2012 and 2013. He obtained master’s degree in Computer Science from Bayero University, Kano in 2017.

He worked with Dinop International School, Hotoro kano State for one year and later transferred to ABS Computer Services Ringim in 2014. He was employed as a Graduate Assistant on 20th May, 2014 at Federal University Dutse (FUD) where he rose to the position of an Assistant Lecturer. He has been involved in teaching, supervision and research. His major area of research is Algorithms Analysis and Programming.

NAME: YUSUF ABDULAZEEZ

Mal. Abdulazeez Yusuf was born on 10th August, 1986 in Bauchi State Nigeria. He attended Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Staff School, Bauchi for his primary education and later Federal Government College Minna, where he obtained his SSCE certificate. He received his BSc. Degree in computer Science from Adamawa State University Mubi, Nigeria in 2011 and MSc in Computer Science from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria in 2018. He was a lecturer briefly at Nassarawa State Polytechnic Lafia before joining FUD as a graduate assistant. Currently he is an academic staff at the Department of Computer Science Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State Nigeria.
